Queens Court is a large student accommodation development in the heart of Reading, just five minutes from the town centre. The building provides a variety of living spaces for students, from studio apartments to four-bed penthouses, across more than 56 apartments. With such a diverse and high-occupancy layout, ensuring robust fire protection was a key priority.
iMist™ was selected as the only fire suppression provider able to deliver an affordable retrofit solution without disrupting the day-to-day lives of residents. The installation was carried out while students remained on-site, with minimal inconvenience. In just 56 days, iMist™ successfully completed the installation of 56 individual fire suppression systems across all apartments.
While the system could have been designed to run from a single residential pump, the client requested one pump per apartment to simplify future use. This approach ensures that, should the building ever be converted into private apartments, each property would already have its own independent system in place. It also makes the handover and aftercare process far simpler. iMist™ delivered this tailored, future-proof solution without compromise.
Multi-occupancy buildings like Queens Court are subject to stringent fire safety standards and regulations, with many now requiring the mandatory inclusion of Automatic Fire Suppression Systems (AFSS). This project demonstrates how iMist™ provides compliance, safety, and long-term value in complex residential settings.
